It seems like I hear of more and more women being diagnosed with breast cancer; so I was curious if anyone has done the genetic testing that's out there? does it only apply if your relatives had breast cancer or any type of cancer? there's a ton of info online but it's a lot to sort through...

Genetic testing
wsam so the genetic testing for the brca gene specific for breast cancer is done under a variety of parameters. Most commonly if you have had a relative who was diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 50...or if a relative had cancer in both breasts or ovarian cancer. Also if you had a male relative with breast cancer. There are other genetic factors but the testing isn't for everyone. And even those who test positive for one of the two types of brca genes do not always develop breast or ovarian cancer.
